What changed Monday
On Friday, President Trump banned CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and Politico from the White House. On Saturday, badges failed and reporters were turned away. On Monday, CNN was due for television press-pool duty. ABC, CBS, Fox News, and NBC declined to fill in. Pooled cameras - and the mics that normally cut through Marine One - were not there.
At a ribbon-cutting for a new White House helipad, before Marine One left for New York and the U.N., Trump's remarks were drowned out on available feeds. Newsmax said on air there was no microphone because the pool cameras weren't there. He skipped shouted questions and posted about the "maiden voyage" on Truth Social instead. That is attributed reporting from Fortune, The Wrap, the Washington Examiner, and others - not campaign invention.
Lawsuit. Dual frame. Courts decide badges.
The same Monday, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico sued in federal court in Washington seeking restored credentials. Their claim: viewpoint discrimination and retaliation. Trump's frame remains his own - an assault on "fake news," not on the free press. Hold both. Invent neither. Courts will decide the badges.
What I believe - and what I will not pretend
I am a spiritualist - not weighed down by the dogma of religious elites. In my opinion, the Goddess made sure this divine intervention took place. The man who tried to silence independent eyes found the mic gone quiet on him. That is my opinion. It is not a court finding.
You do not need to love any cable logo to defend the principle: the people's house does not get to curate which independent eyes may watch power spend your tax dollars.
