In Part 1, we looked at what your tax dollars buy at the Pentagon: lobster, ribeye, a grand piano, and a 25% Reaper drone loss rate. We looked at what your enlisted sons and daughters sleep on: broken bunks, mold, and 100-degree berthing compartments aboard the USS Lincoln.

Part 2 goes deeper. Because the luxury dining and the broken bunks are symptoms. The disease is a system deliberately engineered to transfer wealth upward — and to make sure you never notice until the bill arrives.

The bill has arrived.

The national debt just crossed $36 trillion. That number is so large it has stopped meaning anything to most people. So let's make it mean something.

Every American alive today — every man, woman, and child — owes approximately $107,000 as their individual share of that debt. A family of four owes $428,000. They didn't vote for it. They didn't sign for it. It was run up on their behalf by people who will never feel the consequences.

The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act added an estimated $1.9 trillion to the national debt over ten years — the overwhelming majority of those cuts flowing to corporations and the top 1%. The architects of that bill are now back in power, proposing to make those cuts permanent. The interest payments alone on the debt they created now exceed $1 trillion per year — more than the entire defense budget.

To be clear about what that means: we are now borrowing money to pay the interest on money we already borrowed. The people who received the tax cuts are not paying that interest. You are. Your children will. Their children will.

This is not an accident. This is the plan.

Between 2020 and 2024, U.S. billionaire wealth grew by more than $2.2 trillion. The median American worker's real wage — adjusted for inflation — declined over the same period.

The stock market hit record highs. Grocery bills hit record highs. Both things are true. They are not contradictions. They are the same policy producing two different outcomes for two different classes of people.

The top 1% of Americans now hold more wealth than the entire bottom 90% combined. That is not a statistic from a socialist pamphlet. That is the Federal Reserve's own data. The bottom 50% of Americans hold approximately 2.5% of total national wealth.

And yet we are told, every election cycle, that the problem is immigrants. Or trans people. Or critical race theory. Anything — anything at all — except the people writing the checks to the politicians telling you that.

On April 9, 2025, at 9:37 AM Eastern, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social:

Ninety minutes later, Trump announced a 90-day pause on his own tariffs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged more than 2,900 points in a single session — one of the largest single-day gains in market history. Anyone who bought in the window between that Truth Social post and the tariff announcement made extraordinary returns. Anyone who had sold short in anticipation of continued tariff escalation was wiped out.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has a term for what happens when someone with material non-public information trades on that information, or tips others to do so. They call it insider trading. They call it market manipulation. They prosecute ordinary Americans for it every year.

The President of the United States controls tariff policy. He knew the pause was coming before he posted. His post moved markets. The people closest to him — the ones who read Truth Social at 9:37 AM and acted immediately — made fortunes. The retail investors who had already sold in panic, the pension funds that had rebalanced, the working families with 401(k)s who got out to stop the bleeding — they paid for those fortunes.

The House and Senate have the power to investigate this. They have chosen not to. Chris Coons voted to give this administration $8.9 billion in weapons transfers while this was happening. Lisa Blunt Rochester has said nothing.

Silence is a choice. Inaction is a vote.

Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year federal sentence at FCI Tallahassee for sex trafficking children. She deserves to be in prison.

What she does not deserve — and what no one has been able to adequately explain — is why her federal housing conditions appear to exceed those of the men and women who volunteered to defend this country.

This is not an argument for worse conditions for Maxwell. This is an argument for better conditions for our troops. The fact that we have to make that argument at all — while Congress approves an $886 billion defense budget — tells you everything you need to know about who this government is actually working for.

The Pentagon spent $93 billion in a single month on operations, maintenance, and administration. They served lobster and ribeye in the executive dining facility. They bought a grand piano. They lost 25% of their Reaper drone fleet. And the sailors who operate those ships sleep in broken bunks in 100-degree heat.

If you are not angry, you are not paying attention.

The $36 trillion debt. The $2.2 trillion in billionaire wealth gains. The Truth Social trade. The broken bunks. Ghislaine Maxwell's climate-controlled cell. These are not separate stories. They are the same story.

The story is this: there is a class of people in this country for whom the rules do not apply, for whom the consequences do not land, and for whom the government — both parties — reliably works. And there is everyone else.

The enlisted sailor sleeping in a broken bunk is not in the first group. The nurse who left her career after a DoD contract left her with PTSD is not in the first group. The Delaware family watching their grocery bill climb while their wages stagnate is not in the first group.

The first step is consciousness. The second step is action.
