Pezeshkian - defiance, diplomacy, walkout
UN News and Al Jazeera report Pezeshkian answered Trump's terrorism charge by flipping it: victims of terrorism, not sponsors. He held up images of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - killed, Pezeshkian said, in a joint U.S.-Israeli strike last February - and of children he said died in U.S.-Israeli attacks, including schoolgirls in Minab. He said Iran did not "bend the knee," defended peaceful nuclear technology, and charged a double standard: nuclear weapons in Israel, inspectors in Iran. On Gaza he used the word genocide and cited 80,000 civilians "brutally murdered" - his figure, his charge. He left the door open: "Iran extends its hands towards the world." Across Tuesday and Wednesday, a cluster of leaders used the language of international humanitarian law and accountability against Israel's war in Gaza and the West Bank - and against the paralysis of the institutions meant to restrain it. Guterres warned of ethnic cleansing. Lula named genocide and cited nearly 74,000 killed - his figure. Jordan's King Abdullah called home demolitions a war crime and tied the Iran war to grocery and energy bills from Mumbai to Madrid to Minnesota. Erdogan called Gaza the most inhumane concentration camp of our time. Qatar's Emir called it genocide in the fullest sense. Macron asked what credibility is worth if the world stays inactive.
