UPDATE — War spreads. Saudi cities hit. Civilians wounded.
Friends —
Forever war does not stay in one strait.
According to Al Jazeera, Saudi officials say Houthi attacks hit civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry said energy facilities in the south were struck, with fires and a temporary halt to some operations. The Saudi-led coalition says 73 civilians were wounded, including women and children. That casualty figure is theirs — reported by Al Jazeera and other wires — and I flag it as an authority claim until independently confirmed.
The Houthis say the attacks answered more than 120 Saudi strikes on Yemen in recent days. Saudi officials have vowed a firm response, and fighting continues across the Yemen theater — I will not claim a confirmed retaliatory strike package the wires have not locked down. Civilians are paying on both sides of a border while great powers treat the region as a chessboard.
This is what endless war looks like when it spreads: tankers in the Gulf, bases in Jordan, missiles over Saudi cities, oil markets on edge, and working families in Delaware still feeling the bill. We already named the pump-price cost tonight. The deeper cost is moral — a politics that cannot find an end, only a next target.
I spent years as a nurse. I worked critical care, including under Department of Defense contract. I left the bedside after years on the front lines. I rebuilt in Delaware. I will not pretend permanent conflict is abstract.
The Constitution gives Congress the war power for a reason. A republic that cannot define victory, protect civilians, or tell the truth about costs is not projecting strength. It is drifting.
